XCOM Game 1 Mission 3

The council has trusted me enough to provide me with an important mission. They need me to extract a high level official in Japan. I get the team together and it looks like we have a new recruit, Rookie Genevieve Gagnes-Hawes.

We touch down and are greeted by some creepy looking aliens, who immediately poison Frank.

More aliens get into view. Genevieve tries for a shot but misses.

Dan moves in to finish the job. And does so.

Frank also sees a clear shot and downs another "Sectoid".

With the area cleared, Dan moves in to contact the VIP.

Once the VIP is in our charge the aliens go nuts and start showing up everywhere.

Genevieve takes a shot at the alien behind her. But misses.

Seeing that his squadmate is fully exposed, Derm moves in under heavy fire to help out.

Add nails the sucker!

But it is in vain. From a far position another of the "Thin Men" critically hits Genevieve and she is down. Frank and the VIP next to him panic.

Frank starts shooting wildly and kills the VIP!

The team recovers and gets back to the ranger. Operation Bloody Skull is abandoned.

XCOM Game 1 Mission 2

With a successful mission under our belt a new team is put together to deal with a downed spacecraft. Frank, Kyle and Derm return with a new close combat soldier: Sq. Dan Came. The mission is to the Nigerian interior

Immediately after the team lands the aliens start to make their move. And Frank and Derm take their shots.

And unfortunately miss.

With these failed shots, Dan decides to move into close range, even though he is under heavy fire.

He moves in, lines up the shot and then....

Takes down the mindmelding alien causing mental feedback that kills the other alien!

But before the team has a chance to rejoice, a new alien shows up on the scene!

Derm sees the alien an aims but misses.

Dan gets into position to take out the new alien with a shotgun blast.

Dan connects but the alien is still standing! And with him so close there is no way he can survive the new blast gun that the alien is carrying! Frank lines up a shot.

And down goes the alien!

But more aliens come out of the woodwork. They are everywhere!

Dan runs to gets into position and almost gets hit!

Once in position behind the mindmelding alien, Dan sets up the perfect shot.

And it is good. Killing two birds with one stone.

Time to go home! Well done team, Operation Crimson Pipe is a success!

XCOM Game 1 Misssion 1

As stated I will use this page to post some XCOM missions. I played 5 missions of the game but I lost my save file so I had to start over. As you will see it wasn't such a great loss. For those interested, I am playing Ironman Mode, Classic Difficulty with the Second Wave options - New Economy, Damage Roulette, Not Created Equal, and Hidden Potential.

So to start off. The aliens have been abducting people all over the world. Out of the three possible sites, I choose Acapulco. I've never been been to Acapulco.

The mission will net me four engineers and should be a simple endeavor. I bring in the squad. Jonathon is a sniper, Kyle is a heavy and Derm and Frank are the Rookies. I randomly rolled for the armour colour, so yes, Derm is wearing pink armour.

Operation Purple God commences!

The squad gets into position.

And luckily the aliens fall right into their trap!

But everyone misses.

Frank moves in closer to take out the alien behind the counter and takes it out!

With one down. More aliens come out from behind the counter but they are mindmelded. When the controller dies, the other alien is also killed. Kyle takes full advantage of this situation.

Still more aliens come into the burger joint. This time Jonathon sees a clear shot to the alien in the backroom and with his sniper rifle gets another 2 for 1 kill on the mindmelded aliens.

With the fast food place finally cleared of aliens the gang head in and fortify their position.

Dermot sees an alien and tries to get a shot but not this time.

Kyle gets into position outside and attacks the mindmelded alien.

Clear shot!

With that it is mission accomplished and the rookies gain valuable experience in the field.
