At the time I was making 1.03 gold a month as a small duke with one county and 2 counts as vassals. So it is not a lot, but I believe the amount scales based on how much money you make. As to the tavern question. I once hosted a feast for 12 dukes and it cost me 10 gold. So I think it is like D&D, we are dealing with sums of money that normal people would kill for, maybe 0.01 gold would be the cost of a normal meal.
